Resentment

I resent people who imply that I am only passionate about teaching because I'm a first year teacher.

That my excitement will "wear off" in a couple of years.

That I will stop caring so much when I've had more experience.

I hope you never lose the excitement, the wonder, the joy and heartache, of being in meaningful contact with eager young minds.

Their whole future is ahead; you can help!

Hey girl! Don't let it get you down. Think about your Dad. He could have retired last year but he was enjoying teaching as if it was his first year. You can always be passionate about teaching. It is a choice!

I have been teaching for 31 years and I now have the option of retiring. I have decided that the first day that I am not passionate is the day that I quit. That day has not come yet and I do not anticipate it coming soon. I do get tired though but I still love it. Keep up the good work.

Oh, but try not to forget that people are idiots.
